I have to confess, as it were, to having as little familiarity with the Bible as with the local phone book. I know, I should have studied the Bible as literature at my fancy college in the interest of cultural literacy. Didn't happen.

Sometimes, usually as a result of art history studies, I have just enough knowledge to identify the subject of biblical scenes.

I'm drawing a blank on this one. Too few people for the Last Supper. Loaves but no fish, so it's not that miracle. If I had to guess, I'd say it depicts Jesus having dinner with some old friends, but somehow that doesn't ring true as a Bible Story, particularly not one with sufficient importance to justify a huge stained-glass window.

I'd be grateful if a more learned viewer who's familiar with the story depicted so beautifuly in this stained glass panel would enlighten the rest of us.

The window shows three men visiting Abraham at Mamre (Genesis 18). The men are "angels" - representatives or even manifestations of God, and so in Christian tradition they became figures of the Holy Trinity. --Rabanus Flavus (ውይይት) 12:09, 13 December 2016 (UTC)
