Amharic namespaces[ኮድ አርም]
Hello. I don't know where to discuss these things (let me know if you do), so I brought them to the community.
- Is it possible to have the namespaces in Amahric? Like ዊኪፔዲያ:የዊኪ ማህበረሰብ, ተጠቃሚ:Abdissa Aga or የተጠቃሚ_ውይይት:Abdissa Aga?
- If yes, to reduce broken links, and also to help in the case someone is unable to write in Amahric, is it possible to keep the old ones? i.e. as a kind of an alias; User:Abdissa Aga will take to ተጠቃሚ:Abdissa Aga
- "user talk" is translated as ወሬ. Does ጭውውት or ውይይት sound better for you, too? Though talk is ወሬ in Amharic, I don't think they make the same impression in this case. e.g. How will you say "I'll talk to the boss/admin" in Amharic? Also, other wikipedias like the German one are using the same term for both user talk pages and page discussions.
P.S. Amharic doesn't work on the searchbox when I use IE. What am I doing wrong?
P.P.S. It would be nice to also add a visual way of de/activating the Amahric input on talk pages.

- Hi!
- I have been looking into how to change the namespaces. From what I can read on Meta, it involves changing a file called 'Localsettings.php'... The problem is that I cannot locate this file in order to change it. The people at Meta assume that everyone knows where to find this page, and I can't seem to get any answer. The instructions are at m:LocalSettings.php, if they make sense to you, let me know! Failing that, we may have to request a developer to change the namespaces for us.
- As for ወሬ / ውይይት, I can change የኔ ወሬ to read የኔ ውይይት or የኔ ጭውውት if you like... At least that one is easy!
- As for IE, I have noticed some strange things myself... On one of my computers, I have both IE and Firefox; the switch box ('write in amharic') is enabled in Firefox, but not IE. So I figured that it only works with Firefox and not IE. But on my other computer, I have IE, and the switch box does appear. I can't figure out what the difference is, because both computers are on Windows ME and the same version of IE. So all I can say is that it seems to work with some IE's and not others, but don't know what the required setting is... ፈቃደ (ውይይት) 22:56, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

- 'LocalSettings.php' ለማግኘት በ'web server' ላይ መፈለግ ያስፈልጋል መሰለኝ... እኔ ግን web server የለኝማ... ስለዚህ ይህ ለውጥ የሚደረግ በ developer ግዴታ መሆኑ ይመስላል...
