Welcome to Amharic Wikipedia! I hope you enjoy improving and editing this Wikipedia project. These pages are especially useful for those who are literate in Amharic. However, even experienced Wikipedians who don't know any Amharic have helped out with other things, like 'Interwikis' and updating images from Commons, etc. So don't be afraid to improve the wiki any way you can! Remember, someone else can always come later and fix any changes you make that are not perfect.
You can set your own language for the interface at Special:Preferences. Just scroll in the box where it says 'am - አማርኛ' until you see your language, then click the ይቆጠብ (save) button at the bottom!
Feel free to use our Sandbox to make test edits. If you want to talk with other members in general, for now you can use the Village pump. Sign your name on any Talk pages by just typing '~~~~' (four tildes) at the end of your message.

deleting a page[ኮድ አርም]
To delete a content page on Amharic wikipedia, discussion must be conducted in the Amharic language according to the well known principle known as "due process". - This was a clean up across of wikis of a conflict of interest/spam page that is repeatedly added by a person who creates multiple sockpuppets, and recreates around blocks, and protected pages. This spammer has been at this act for nearly two years, and there is much data that stewards have collected on this matter. Billinghurst (talk) 23:07, 16 ኦክቶበር 2014 (UTC)
- This article was created by someone with a proper Amharic user name and some knowledge of the language. Other than that, the contributor has done nothing disruptive or anti-constructive on this wiki. I don't know who it was but in the unlikely event they become a disruption on this wiki, we can easily deal with it then. ፈቃደ (ውይይት) 01:37, 17 ኦክቶበር 2014 (UTC)
- That is rather a naive approach to this matter. This is a one time contribution editor who has made a word for word translation of an article that was added repeatedly to a couple of dozen wikis. It follows the pattern of the user in use of translation tools, and single or double edits. The appropriateness of a username is a poor test for acceptabilty or notabilty or an article. The evidence of two years of crosswiki abuse is irrefutable. I also see that other stewards have had this same discussion with you. The approach of amWP seems to be contrary to the other wikipedia which delete xwiki spam, and articles of people clearly lacking notability and undertaking sockpuppetry which this article does. - I beg your pardon? This wikipedia does not sit in isolation of the others, and the terms of use of wikimedia. You are allowing abuse on this wiki, and the stewards have the ability and the right to address xwiki spam and abuse. I expect a better response than what you have given for the retention of articles that are created by a known sockpuppet, xwiki spammer with conflict of interest. - I have advised you several times to back off this"community" as one apparently devoid of any knowledge of the language it speaks or those who speak it, but it is evident now that you intend to cause trouble and act imperialist here. We have outlined procedures for the Amharic wikipedia content in Amharic and discussions involving consensus MUST be conducted in Amharic, by editors who are fluent in Amharic. - Excuse me? I have been having a conversation on my user talk page, that you started. So don't tell me that I need to back off on this community, I have done nothing to take on this community. I have asked for you to justify why a spam page is not deleted, that is not imperialistic, that is asking you for the accountability. I justified why I took the action as a steward, yet you have been unwilling to justify your position. I am not taking you to task on articles on Amharic, it is this specific article which I (and others) have repeatedly said is spam and abuse, and we have evidence to support that statement. If this community has that requirement for the removal of spam/CoI/Abuse, as you have now been informed of this situation, I look forward to you starting that conversation and seeing the result of this discussion in the community. - "Which I (and others) have repeatedly said is" -- and that right there is the imperialism because no Amharic speakers were included in or informed about this little meeting to establish decisions on content affecting Amharic. You are establishing a precedent where non-Amharic speakers with tools can drop in any time and say about any content "This was decided not to be allowed in Amharic, and it was all fairly agreed to, only none of you were invited, sorry." I have looked at your main talkpage and I have no idea what you did to become a steward but it appears you describe yourself as something like a freelance steward who, without any specific instruction to do so, freelance goes about languages you cannot speak or read a single word of, looking for problems to cause. ፈቃደ (ውይይት)

I awaiting the deletion discussion for the removal of this xwiki spam, with a conflict of interest by sockpuppets, that I have again had the pleasure to chase down across numerous wikis today. - I again ask for you to start the process of deletion if the requirement here for xwiki abuse by sockpuppets with a conflict of interest deletion discussions need to be in Amharic. I can see that there have been other deletions recently, and without discussion, so please some equity with this issue would be useful. There is a broader issue with this spam, and as part of the Wikimedia community it would be helpful for Amharic Wikipedia to do its part in discouraging the abuse of the Wikipedias by managing this matter. Sir, as a non-Amharic speaker your interference and continued attempts to stir up troubles for the Amharic speaking community is unwelcome. I know for a fact that you have no legitimate mandate from WMF to go around doing this.
