Hi, I hope you decide to stay and contribute articles, especially since you seem to have some ability with Amharic and translation with English!

I wanted to ask you about this first article you created, ወዘተ/ትርጓሜ. I want to help find the appropriate home for it, as I'm pretty sure it does not belong where it is, in the article mainspace. (It does not seem to be encyclopedic content). I'm not sure what your purpose is, but I would suggest that it be moved to either User:Mike/ወዘተ/ትርጓሜ or to ወቅታዊ ጉዳዮች, depending on what the purpose is. Also, if it is something that needs translating, I could suggest a couple of very slight changes to your English rendering of the Amharic version...

Hi ፈቃደ. My mistake, sorry. I'm using it as an illustration of how some software would work, so I just wanted to show it during the talk. (I'm working on a machine translation system that could use user feedback from a Wiki to improve.) The translation is not even supposed to be good in fact. I'd thought I'd put it under my user page but apparently gave it the wrong path. -- Mike 18:21, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

Your account will be renamed

Hello,

The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.

Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Mike. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Mike~amwiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.

Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
