I agree that አባል:Tatari shoud be a sysop. Elfalem 15:17, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
I have decided to again request bureaucrat status at Meta. I asked once before in August, but they said we weren't big enough yet. I think now we are big enough. The only extra powers a bureaucrat has are: 1) can make other users sysop with community approval, so that we don't have to ask at Meta every time we decide to add a new sysop; 2) can give bot users a flag so that their changes won't normally show up on the recent changes list. Other than that it is exactly the same as sysop. Let me know if anyone has any comments or objections. Thank you.

- Support. I am not here very often but as far as I can remember Codex Sinaiticus has been working well on this project. guillom 06:43, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
ሠላም ለናንተ፡ Last time I have asked to be a sysop and contribute better to wiki. I know it is easy to make someone you believe as he wish but if there is any reason that stops me from beeing a sysop tell me and i'll never ask you to make me so.Aniten21 09:11, 1 ኤይፕርል 2010 (UTC)
- ሰላምታ፣ Now that you have listed yourself on this page, either supporting reasons, or reasons against, can be listed here for a few days, first. (This process is supposed to make sure you have community trust and support.) For my part, I support your being an admin, ብዙ መጣጥፎች በመፍጠርህ ተለምደሃልና፣ and I do believe you can be trusted with the tools in the admin toolbox (which in wiki-world is sometimes called 'the mop', since usually, it just amounts to deleting nonsense pages!)
- This is the first formal admin request on Amharic wiki, and the community is still fairly tiny, so in about two or three days from now, unless some unforseen major opposition arises, I'll go ahead and make you a sysop. ፈቃደ (ውይይት) 11:44, 1 ኤይፕርል 2010 (UTC)
ሠላምታ፣ can you guess how much strength the above paragraph gave me when I read it? Thank you! please give me some articles to develop fore some specific days and I'll show how much I'll be trusted. አመሠግናለሁ።Aniten21 10:34, 3 ኤይፕርል 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I have fixed the text of the box above the በቅርብ ጊዜ የተለወጠው page, to better show what's at the top of the lists for improvement. That's always a good place to start, but of course it's entirely your choice. I'll wait another day in case Elfalem, Tatari or anyone else wish to comment. Note that locking articles for a set amount of time (say for 24 hrs, a week, or forever) should be done only as appropriate in response to conflict. ፈቃደ (ውይይት) 14:23, 3 ኤይፕርል 2010 (UTC)
- Greetings, I just would like to say that I support Aniten21's request to be a sysop (or admin, whichever one it is called). Like Codex Sinaiticus said, sysop powers are not usually necessary. The only thing I do often is delete nonsense pages. I'm glad to see increased participation on our Wikipedia. Elfalem 23:13, 3 ኤይፕርል 2010 (UTC)
Hallo Everyone. I have been participating at the Amharic Wikipedia for few months now. However I wanted to contribute more in areas that I can't because I am not a sysop. I am requesting Sysop position for such reason. Thanks. Hgetnet 04:11, 18 ኦገስት 2010 (UTC)
- Support - You've contributed more than enough to have my confidence to be trusted with the መጋቢ `toolbox, and you've already become one of the top contributors in terms of edit count! ፈቃደ (ውይይት) 19:50, 18 ኦገስት 2010 (UTC)
- Support - Hgetnet has made valuable contributions to this project. I'm just curious, which css files are you planning on editing? Elfalem 23:27, 18 ኦገስት 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you Codex and Elfalem for your support. When I said "edit", I actually meant to say "add." As you noted the way the front page looks as it does now is not appropriate. Although there are really wonderful tutorials written in this Amharic wikipedia, they are somewhat hidden from new comers so much so that when I first saw this wikipedia I had to search through ( click here, click there, make mistake here go back there) before I finally figured out how to write articles. We need to make it very easy for new comers. It should be a very simple, step by step process from looking at this wikipedia for the first time to starting contribution. For that to happen a better user friendly front page is essential. What do you say?

- I agree that the front page needs work. I like the present color and design elements. However, the "featured article" is a red link and "did you know", although interesting, does not link to new, or for that matter any articles. I suggest these two sections be removed for the time being and we can hold a discussion on how to better implement them. I'm hoping maybe you could improve the front page since you designed the layout and know more about the code structure than I do. Elfalem 03:00, 20 ኦገስት 2010 (UTC)
